Watch: How The Mixx is Advocating for LGBTQ+ Representation in Marketing
Robyn Streisand on the marketing industry’s responsibility to lead the way on diversity, equity and inclusion.
The conversation around the need for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives across all businesses is growing, but Robyn Streisand was 25 years ahead of the times. In 1996, Streisand launched The Mixx: a strategic and creative marketing agency built on valuing DEI and a belief that growth comes from a willingness to adapt, change and create. Streisand’s declaration that, “Everyone wants to be seen and represented,” isn’t just a belief for The Mixx—it’s a mission.
Advocating for LGBTQ-owned businesses
Beyond leading The Mixx, Streisand also serves as an educator and advocate for the importance of working with diverse associates. “It can make a real difference for clients,” says Streisand. As a long-time WBENC-certified and NGLCC-certified agency, Streisand has helped numerous other businesses to follow her lead and become certified as woman-owned and LGBTQ-owned enterprises as well.
The Mixx's partnership with HSBC
When Streisand speaks about her business’s partnership with HSBC, it’s clear that both a shared vision and shared values have played key roles in helping The Mixx grow. “HSBC gave us the opportunity to go to the next level,” says Streisand. In addition, when discussing the two companies’ shared values, Streisand emphasized that for The Mixx, “Valuing difference is in our DNA.”
At the heart of who we are as a business is our stand on DEI.
For Streisand, the platform of being a marketer comes with a higher purpose: “Impacting change around social good, doing what’s right, and operating with respect and integrity for the future.” It’s a driving force that has been a part of The Mixx since the beginning, and hopefully one that will become commonplace throughout the marketing industry.
